Welcome back to the Tigers Football Insider, where we bring you the latest news and analysis from The Daily Memphian’s Steven Johnson each week.

Since the conclusion of the NFL Draft on Saturday, it’s been all quiet on the undrafted free agent front for a number of former Tigers.

Kenneth Gainwell was selected No. 150 overall by the Philadelphia Eagles and kicker Riley Patterson signed a deal with Minnesota Vikings not too long after.

There was an expectation that Brady White, Damonte Coxie, Adam Williams and O’Bryan Goodson would all sign similar deals to Patterson, but that hasn’t come to fruition just yet.

As of this morning there hasn’t been much chatter about interest being expressed in either of the four.

TigerSportsReporter publisher Bryan Moss-Namowicz tweeted on Saturday that the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears were interested in Coxie, but a deal has yet to be complete.

Why wasn’t Coxie selected and why hasn’t he been signed yet? Unfortunately it could because of a lackluster pro day.

Multiple outlets report that Coxie ran a 4.77 40-yard dash and didn’t test well in other categories. With no scouting combine, pro days had a heightened importance this offseason and not blowing away scouts caused prospects like Coxie to fall.

Will he eventually sign with a team? I believe so, he was extremely productive and has skills that can translate to the league, it may just take a little while to find the right fit.

I expect the same for Goodson and Williams, but White’s situation is trickier.

There’s no doubt that White has the intangibles and football intelligence to at least make a practice squad, but the questions about his age, arm strength and overall athleticism have persisted.

As we get closer to mini-camp and training camp, White may get a call, but at this point they’re all playing the waiting game.
