Following FedExForum’s decision to require spectators to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours to attend events beginning Oct. 20, some fans have decided to ask for a refund on season tickets.
While the University of Memphis is not planning at this time to offer refunds to fans who will not comply with the policy, the Grizzlies will handle refunds on a “case-by-case basis,” according to team president Jason Wexler.
“We are going to try to talk through it on a case-by-case basis,” Wexler said Thursday on “The Geoff Calkins Show” on 92.9 FM ESPN. “One of the things we have found with this is that not everybody’s position is uniform across the board, pro or against. Hopefully there are some people who we can talk through this thing a little bit, who want to figure out a way to get back in the building that they are comfortable with. Maybe there is a way we can navigate it a little bit with them.
“So we aren’t making a blanket policy and hope to, like we always do whether it is good news or bad news, depending on point of view, handle it with season ticket holders on a case-by-case basis.”
The Grizzlies will play three preseason home games against the Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons before the policies are implemented.
