The Memphis Grizzlies badly needed to regroup following a blowout loss at the Wizards on Friday, Nov. 5.
So they did, with both practice and personal time on Sunday. But what, exactly, do the Grizzlies do for self care?
For Jaren Jackson Jr., it’s sitting in the hot tub. That’s where he clears his mind.
“Yeah, in the hot tub,” Jackson said on Monday. “It ain’t that hard. If you don’t have a hot tub, just sit in the shower.”
Jackson’s hot tub came with the house, which was part of the appeal. No purchase necessary.
“(Ja Morant) went home and played some Kirk Franklin to get his mind right,” Jackson said. “I went home and sat in the hot tub to get my mind right. Everybody just did what they did. We had to regroup.”
Morant crashed Jackson’s shootaround press conference on Monday by singing Franklin’s song titled “I Smile.” It drew a big laugh from teammate Desmond Bane, who did his own meditation over the weekend.
“I sit in my backyard,” Bane said. “I just like to chill outside. That’s all I need. Maybe I’ll call some family members or whatever.”
Included in that “chilling” operation is Bane’s dog named Buddha, a Cane Corso.
“Oh yeah, he’s big dog,” Bane said.
Now the Grizzlies will see if their relaxation will pay off against the Timberwolves on Monday night.
“We needed to recharge,” Bane said. “Obviously, we had a tough West Coast road trip, then came home and played a tough opponent before going on the road again. It’s good to be home, and home for a little bit
