The only countywide race on the Aug. 1 ballot will mean a change in the administrator and records keeper for the state’s largest court system.

The change in the General Sessions Court clerk’s office comes at a time when the local criminal justice system is under greater scrutiny. General Sessions Court has civil and criminal divisions.

The clerk’s race is a contest between Democratic nominee Tami Sawyer and Republican nominee Lisa Arnold.
