Welcome to this week’s Tigers Basketball Insider. Below you’ll find the latest news and analysis from The Daily Memphian’s Parth Upadhyaya, John Martin and Tim Buckley.

LAHAINA, Hawaii — Though it’s just one game, Memphis’ win over No. 2 UConn in the Maui Invitational on Monday has put the college basketball world on notice.

The 99-97 overtime victory over the two-time defending NCAA champion Huskies quickly earned the Tigers (5-0) respect across the country.

As of Tuesday, coach Penny Hardaway’s team is projected to be a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament in ESPN’s latest Bracketology by Joe Lunardi and is slotted at No. 13 in the country by CBS Sports and Grind City Media’s Gary Parrish in his daily “Top 25 And 1” ranking.
