Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. is known for making bold fashion choices. But on Thursday he chose a sweatshirt every Grizzlies fan should approve.
Jackson, evidently, is a huge fan of his teammate Yuki Kawamura.
So much so that the Grizzlies forward dedicated an entire hoodie to the Japanese point guard and wore it for in-arena tunnel pictures ahead of the Grizzlies’ loss to the Houston Rockets.
“It’s fire, right?” Jackson said as he pointed to the sweatshirt in his locker after the game. “It’s all Yuki.
“I got this made quick. It got to my house quick. I wore it quick, too. I decided to wear this as soon as I got it.”
The sweatshirt was a big hit in the Memphis locker room and online. Many Grizzlies fans are wondering how they can get their hands on one that is identical.
Jackson, however, wasn’t a huge fan of that idea. He loves the sweatshirt in part because it’s a unique collector's item.
“That’s confidential,” Jackson said about how he received it. “I’m gatekeeping that information. It’s one-of-one, for sure — maybe. I mean, hopefully.”
Kawamura, the shortest player in the NBA at 5-foot-7, has become a phenomenon.
Several fans have traveled from Japan to Memphis for a chance to see the guard in action. He has appeared in 16 NBA games, averaging 1.5 points and 0.8 assists.

Kawamura also approves of Jackson’s sweatshirt and was curious how the big man was able to find it.
Jackson won’t tell him, either. He is extremely dedicated to keeping it a secret.
“It’s cool,” Kawamura said Thursday as he looked at the hoodie. “I don’t know how he gets this one, but it’s cool.”
It’s a little too self-centered for the point guard to wear himself, but Kawamura said he is now looking for a matching hoodie of Jaren Jackson Jr. that he could wear to a future game.
“How can I get that?” Kawamura said. “One day I will wear the JJJ hoodie. Yeah, one day. I need to get that.”
Perhaps someone in Memphis can help him make that happen. Or maybe Jackson can step up and give him an assist?
He’s open to negotiation.
“I will have to figure out the specs of that,” Jackson said. “But I saw this one and I was like, ‘Yeah, we have got to wear this. This is so fire.’
“Go Yuki.”
