Welcome to this week’s Tigers Basketball Insider. Below you’ll find the latest news and analysis from The Daily Memphian’s Parth Upadhyaya, John Martin and Tim Buckley.

When Memphis star PJ Haggerty entered the NCAA transfer portal last Thursday, it was evident to most that he had made a business decision.

Haggerty, a 6-foot-3 combo guard, averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game and shot 36.4% from 3-point range. The Crosby, Texas, native was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a consensus second team All-American while finishing the season third nationally in points per game.

The 29-6 Tigers won AAC regular-season and AAC Tournament titles and earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. It was their first regular-season championship since 2012-13 and their best March Madness seed since being a No. 2 in 2008-09.
