Southwest program will help new pilots climb through ranks faster
“(This) accreditation will allow pilots to get their (commercial) license at 1,250 hours instead of the (normal) 1,500,” said Darrell DeGraffenreid, who already has his private pilot’s license and used it to soar over the Mississippi River just a few days ago. “And if for some reason I don’t go down the military route, that would still save me hours on the civilian side of things.” (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian)
A designation for Southwest Tennessee Community College from the Federal Aviation Administration will provide training in school instead of while accumulating hours in a cockpit.
