Jeff Ruffin learned from the best and coached the best. This week, he received the best honor a coach can get.

The basketball court at St. George’s — where Ruffin won two state championships — was named for him during ceremonies this week. It’s a fitting tribute to the coach who followed the model of Jerry Peters and Richard Williamson and won more than 70% of his games while molding the careers of some of the city’s top players in his decade-and-a-half on the bench.

The current crop is right in the middle of the season, and we need your help recognizing the cream. Coaches and stat-keepers are encouraged to send in their scores, highlights and top performers each game night. Email jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or tweet @johnvarlas.
