The Memphis Grizzlies have hit a speedbump. The team lost three straight games during a Western Conference road swing that included visits to Phoenix, the Los Angeles Lake and Sacramento, California. In the midst of the losing streak, however, came some terrific reporting and writing from Grizzlies beat writer Drew Hill, who traveled to the Richmond, Indiana, hometown of guard Desmond Bane and produced a three-story series on Bane’s upbringing over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Memphis Tigers have won three straight, including one over Wichita State, in which big man DeAndre Williams had a ridiculous 29-point, 15-rebound double-double last Thursday night and another Sunday at Cincinnati in which Williams delivered 26 points. On the football front, the Tigers continued to add players through the NCAA transfer portal — a seemingly endless process since the 2022 season ended.
