The Week in Prep Sports

This season could have easily been a step back for Colliervillle’s volleyball program. Instead, the Dragons are moving forward in their bid to make school history.

Coach Lindsey Vicknair’s squad finished as state runner-up in 2022 and subsequently graduated some key pieces. But thanks to Campbell McKinnon — the team’s star player and unquestioned leader — and the culture of success within the program, Colliervillle has the area’s best record in the city and should be in the mix for its first state next month.

Golf’s state tournaments are just around the corner too, and we caught up with ECS standout Claire Todd, whose passion for the game has her among those to watch in Division 2-A.

And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our best high school athletes. Please send in your scores, highlights and top performers after each game either by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas. — John Varlas
