It is July, which for the Memphis Grizzlies means participation in not one but two NBA Summer Leagues — a smaller one in Salt Lake City, followed by a bigger leaguewide one in Las Vegas.

Drew Hill hit the road for both, highlighting The Daily Memphian sport staff’s work for the week with coverage, including his piece on Grizzlies first-round NBA Draft pick Zach Edey’s blossoming relationship with new teammate GG Jackson.

John Varlas, meanwhile, spent time last week out at the Ed Murphey Classic track and field meet at the University of Memphis, while Frank Bonner II broke down how the Memphis Tigers’ ratings stack up in EA Sports’ newly released College Football 25 video game.

Ongoing this week, the SEC is holding its annual football Media Days in Dallas. The American Athletic Conference takes its turn early next week in Arlington, Texas, and Bonner will be there as coach Ryan Silverfield, quarterback Seth Henigan and linebacker Chandler Martin represent the Tigers.
