The Week in Prep Sports

Region play begins for many this week, including the heavyweights in 8-6A. Germantown appears to still fit that description.

The Red Devils, who host Dandy Dozen No. 1 and state champion Houston Friday, lost a host of key seniors from last year’s team that finished 12-1.

But, as coach Gene Robinson says, the standard remains the standard at Germantown and that standard is a high one. Despite the numerous losses, the Red Devils posted an impressive victory over South Panola last week and will be brimming with confidence when the Mustangs arrive.

Other fall sports are in full swing too and as always, we need your help in spotlighting our top high school athletes. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers after each game. Email jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or tweet @johnvarlas.
