The Week in Prep Sports

Off the pitch, Riley Stooksbury is often viewed as quiet and reserved. But soccer allows her to show her true self.

Stooksbury is an all-state goalkeeper at St. George’s who will continue her career at the University of Memphis. The junior has led her team to a fine start this season while playing a position that allows her to show her leadership — and channel her aggression.

Speaking of stellar starts, Collierville’s football team is 3-0 with victories over three state-ranked teams. Coach Joe Rocconi’s squad graduated several key contributors from 2023 but the new faces are growing up quickly.

And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our top prep athletes. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers after each game. Email jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or tweet @johnvarlas.
