The Week in Prep Sports

In 2024, Memphis was title town for high school sports.

Briarcrest and FACS brought home gold balls in basketball. At Spring Fling, the Saints also won in baseball, defeating CBHS in a memorable contest.

Lausanne dominated on the tennis courts while the track and competition provided its usual large medal haul. In lacrosse, perennial favorite MUS won its 15th championship.

Girls sports took center stage in the fall. Athletes from St. Mary’s and Hutchison shone brightest in golf while in volleyball, Northpoint captured its first title. Houston capped a spectacular undefeated season with a soccer crown while ECS repeated in its division, winning over a talented Lausanne squad.

And in football, MASE was the belle of the BlueCross Bowl, winning its first championship. Houston and Melrose were runners-up in their classifications while Covington’s Skylan Smith took home his school’s first Mr. Football trophy.

Here’s hoping for more of the same in 2025.
