The Week in Prep Sports

It may be January, but high school football is still in the spotlight.

This week, The Daily Memphian wrapped up its fall sports awards by recognizing the best of the best from a memorable season. MASE, which won the first Class 1A state championship in school history last month, had both the player of the year (senior linebacker Stanley Burrow) and coach of the year (Cedric Miller).

St. George’s, meanwhile, is looking to get back to its championship ways. The Gryphons hope they have the right man for the job in new coach Tyler Rice, a former college assistant.

And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our top prep performers. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game either by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.

Stay in the action and follow us on The Daily Memphian Sports Facebook page. If you’re already a Daily Memphian subscriber, we appreciate your support. If not, consider subscribing now for unlimited access to all of our sports coverage.
