Basketball postseason kicked into high gear this week. District-tournament titles were determined, and region pairings were set.

In boys play, Houston downed Bartlett in overtime to win 15-4A and gain a number one said for the region tournament. Keron Jackson was named MVP as the Mustangs avenged two regular-season losses to the Panthers.

The other No. 1 will be Whitehaven, which defeated White Station to win its 19th game in a row in the 16-4A final. Whitehaven’s girls will also be a No. 1 seed thanks to a victory against Overton.

In golf, longtime MUS coach Cliff Frisby is retiring after a successful career; he guided the Owls to four state titles.

And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our top prep performers. Spring sports start soon, and coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game. Email jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or tweet @johnvarlas.
