The Memphis Grizzlies’ 2024-25 season came to a screeching halt, and when it did, Drew Hill and Chris Herrington were there to chronicle it. One day after it ended with a Game 4 loss to Oklahoma City in a first-round playoff series on Saturday, with star guard Ja Morant injured and out again, Hill and Herrington were at FedExForum for the fallout. And there was plenty to report. Herrington delivered a spot-on column about decisions the Grizzlies must make this offseason regarding their core three of Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane, and the trio’s supporting cast, while Hill dutifully delivered everything of note those three said, along with penning a telling piece on all general manager Zach Kleiman had to say. On the same afternoon, Frank Bonner II was at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to report on starting quarterback candidate Arrington Maiden’s impressive performance in the Memphis Tigers’ annual spring game. Bonner also reported Saturday on the New England Patriots making Tigers defensive back Kobee Minor as the final selection of the 2025 NFL Draft. And throughout the week, Parth Upadhyaya and John Martin have been writing about all that’s happening with guard PJ Haggerty and the rest of Penny Hardaway’s Memphis basketball team in the NCAA transfer portal. On the preps front, John Varlas continues to roll out The Daily Memphian’s spring sports postseason high school awards winners.
