The Week in Prep Sports

Keith Harris never had “coach girls soccer” on his radar this fall.

Harris was hired to coach the boys team, and Bolton and a girls team wasn’t really on anyone’s radar. But interest in a team began to grow organically, and that got Harris’ natural enthusiasm stirred up.

The Wildcats played their first game in several seasons Sept. 10. And while they likely won’t be competing for championships this year, Harris and his girls are doing what they can to bring joy to school community that was struck by tragedy in July.

Houston soccer, meanwhile, does have championship dreams once again after winning it all in 2024. The Mustangs took some early lumps this year, but Coach David Wolff liked everything he saw from his team Wednesday.

Except who it came against.

As always, we need your help in spotlighting our top prep performers. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.
