The Week in Prep Sports

Golf took center stage this week as Division 2 competitors earned their spots in the upcoming state tournament.

On the boys side, MUS has a first-year coach this season with former standout player Chip Campbell replacing the legendary Cliff Frisby. But not much else has changed.

The Owls won the Division 2-AA region team title at Audubon this week, defeating CBHS by 19 strokes. MUS also had the individual champion as their “bulldog,” junior Brantley Moore, defeated teammate Charles Snider by a stroke to repeat as champion.

In D2-AA girls, Catherine Bowie of Hutchison has been MIA for a good bit of the school season due to tendinitis issues. But she didn’t miss much at the regional tournament at Timber Truss, finishing at 6-under. The sophomore will now defend the state title she won in 2024.

And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our top prep athletes. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game either by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.
