The Week in Prep Sports

K.J. Steveson is many things.

An avid Ja Morant fan. A family-oriented oldest brother. And the city’s leading scorer.

As an eighth-grader.

Stevenson plays for Memphis School of Excellence-Cordova, a relatively new program that has one of the smallest enrolments in the state. But he’s already had two 40-point efforts this season, one that is putting him and his school on the map.

Elsewhere, the big boys in Class 4A are poised for a battle royal to determine who makes it to Murfreesboro.

And as always, we need your help in identifying our top prep performers. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game either by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.

Stay in the action and follow us on The Daily Memphian Sports Facebook page. If you’re already a Daily Memphian subscriber, we appreciate your support. If not, consider subscribing now for unlimited access to all of our sports coverage.
