The Week in Prep Sports

At the end of a season 25 years in the making, the Bartlett basketball team can call itself champions.

Coach Dion Real’s squad wrapped up a 35-4 season with a victory against Walker Valley in the Class 4A championship game at Middle Tennessee State. It’s the second title in school history and the first since 2001.

And it wasn’t particularly close. After hard-fought victories in the quarters and semis, Bartlett put the final away with a dominating fourth quarter.

Dominating is a good word to describe Will Brick, the CBHS catcher who re-classified into the class of 2026. Brick has signed with Mississippi State but could face a decision based on where he’s taken in the Major League Draft.

Either way, as he puts it, it’s a win-win situation.

And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our best high school athletes like Brick. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game either by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.
