Forward Cam Boozer has been front and center for the Memphis Grizzlies in recent days, and Drew Hill and Chris Herrington have been all over it — taking Hill from AutoZone Park all the way to Salt Lake City and, soon, Las Vegas. Herrington was at the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds’ home when Boozer, the Grizzlies’ top selection at No. 3 overall in last month’s 2026 NBA Draft, threw out the first pitch, and he and fellow first-round pick Karim Lopez signed autographs for fans there last Thursday. Then it was off to Utah for Boozer, Lopez and, yes, Hill, as the Grizzlies’ youngsters took part in the Salt Lake City Summer League. Boozer made a favorable first impression, and Hill was there to chronicle it, along with catching up with 2025 first-round Cedric Coward, highlighting The Daily Memphian sports staff’s work for the week. Boozer also is starring in a new Jordan sneaker ad, by the way, as Hill also reported late last week. And a busy Hill confirmed reporting that former Golden State Warriors big man Quinten Post is signing a three-year, $30 million offer sheet with the Grizzlies as the NBA free agency market opens. Next up for Hill and the Grizzlies: Las Vegas, where Memphis opens NBA Summer League play Friday night against the Chicago Bulls. Sticking with basketball, Frank Bonner II broke down the Memphis Tigers men’s team’s nonconference schedule over the Fourth of July weekend and examined new coach Hana Haden’s plans for rebuilding the Tigers women’s team. Here’s a look at some of the staff’s top work from the holiday week: — Deputy sports editor Tim Buckley
