The Week in Prep Sports

Bartlett’s 2025 football season-opener was a gut-punch; the Panthers lost to MUS on a last-ditch Hail Mary.

The two teams met again to open this season, and this time, the Panthers got the victory. It’s one that should give them plenty of confidence as they look to improve in coach Ben Bowden’s second season.

That victory also moved the Panthers into the Dandy Dozen football rankings, which got a Week 1 shake-up following a loss by top-ranked Collierville.

In volleyball, Briarcrest staked a claim as the area’s top team with an impressive victory against previously unbeaten Arlington.

And whether it’s football, volleyball or another fall sport, we need your help in spotlighting our best athletes and teams. Coaches and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.
