MUS has had its share of talented golfers down through the years. But what Brantley Moore did this week sets him apart. Moore, a senior, won his second straight Division 2-AA state championship this week at Sevierville Golf Club and, in doing so, became the first Owl to win multiple championships. Perhaps more importantly for Moore, his efforts played a key role in MUS bringing home its first team championship since 2017 in the larger of Tennessee’s two private-school classes. Earlier in the week, Mathile Walker made school history for ECS by becoming the Eagles’ first ever girls champion. And in soccer, Houston downed Collierville to secure the regular-season district championship in a match that featured the top two teams in Tennessee — Houston entering as No. 2 — and two of the Top 5 in the nation, according to MaxPreps’ rankings. And as always, we need your help in spotlighting our area’s best high school athletes. Coach and stat-keepers can send in their scores, highlights and top performers from each game either by emailing jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or on X @johnvarlas.
