The Week in Review

This week is about the future of the Grizzlies — namely, who their next draft picks will be. The team has two late first-round picks and one second-rounder Thursday and, like any other NBA front office, has kept mum about who it’s looking at, what the possibilities are, and whether there are trade moves being contemplated.

Keep in mind that any leaks also might be misdirection. But do not doubt the Grizzlies know exactly what they’re doing. Their track record in the past few years has proven that.

The Memphis Tigers basketball team landed one of its desired transfer targets, Emmanuel Akot. The Tigers still might be short a couple of player pieces, but the coaching staff is coming together.

We wrap up our players of the year, coaches of the year and all-metro teams for the high school spring sports. — Elaine Sung, sports editor
