Shelby-Metro baseball was well-represented when Ole Miss won the College World Series. 

Former Collierville Dragons right-hander Jack Dougherty was the hero of Game 1 of the finals, a reliever starting his first game in three months, and pitched a perfect game through five innings. Other Memphis-area players on the Rebels roster are Reagan Burford of St. George’s; St. Benedict’s left-hander Luke Ellis, and Hayden Leatherwood of CBHS.
