The Week in Review


It’s July, but activity seemingly never ends in the NBA. For the Grizzlies, there was good news and bad news.

Tyus Jones is back, and Ja Morant signed his max contract. For Memphis fans, that brings a huge sigh of relief.

The bad news: Jaren Jackson Jr. is out four to six months after having surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot.

Emoni Bates, who arrived last year to great fanfare, officially closed his brief stay at Memphis when he announced he was transferring to Eastern Michigan. With the 2022-23 roster mostly set, we take a look at the lineup possibilities. — Elaine Sung, sports editor
