Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Nigel Brannon announced Tuesday night that he would enter the transfer portal.

Brannon was a three-star recruit brought in by Mike Norvell in the Class of 2018. He started his career as an offensive lineman and appeared in 14 games last season.
The Oklahoma native made the switch to the defensive side of the ball earlier this spring.
He logged two tackles in the Tigers’ blowout win over Stephen F. Austin, but playing time was difficult to come by on a strong defensive line.
You never want to see players enter the portal, but Memphis has plenty of depth at the defensive line. There are returners such as Morris Joseph, John Cartwright and Wardalis Ducksworth.
Freshmen defensive linemen CamRon Jackson and Kajuan Robinson also showed promise up front, as well. Memphis also has four defensive linemen currently committed or signed to the 2021 class as well.
