Guess who is at the top of the list? Memphis, of course. The Tigers led the way with six ranked wins, one more than UCF and two more than Boise State.

Ryan Silverfield was on the coaching staff for each one. Let’s briefly revisit those ranked wins.

Nov. 29 and Dec. 7, 2019 vs. Cincinnati: In order for Memphis to capture the AAC Championship, the Tigers needed to go through the Bearcats in back-to-back weeks. Ranked No. 18 and No. 21 at the time of matchups, the Tigers edged Cincy, 34-24, and then 29-24 in the AAC title game.

Nov. 2, 2019 vs. SMU: The biggest moment in program history led by the appearance on College GameDay. With the national spotlight fixated on them, the Tigers didn’t disappoint. Antonio Gibson put on a show as Memphis defeated No. 15 SMU, 54-48, at the Liberty Bowl.

Oct. 14, 2017 vs. Navy: One of the many close battles between the two programs over the years, Memphis held off a late Navy run to beat the No. 25 Midshipmen, 30-27.

Sept. 16, 2017 vs. UCLA: Led by a heroic performance by Anthony Miller (185 yards, 2 touchdowns) the Tigers upset future first round pick Josh Rosen and the No. 25 Bruins. Riley Ferguson threw the go-ahead touchdown to Phil Mayhue with 9:56 remaining in the fourth.

Nov. 25, 2016 vs. Houston: Memphis entered this Friday night game with a six-game losing streak against the Cougars. When Houston took a 44-41 lead with 1:29 left, it appeared the streak would move to seven. That was until Riley Ferguson and Anthony Miller connected for the game-winning touchdown with just 19 seconds left. The Tigers prevailed, 48-44, and haven’t lost to the Cougars since.
