On Wednesday, June 15, Dallas reportedly shipped out the 26th pick, Boban Marjanovic, Trey Burke and Marquese Chriss in exchange for Houston Rockets forward Christian Wood.
It was a trade both sides felt was a fit, because Houston needed to clear playing time for its soon-to-be rookie and Dallas wanted an upgrade inside and a stretch shooter.
What does it mean for the Grizzlies? Well, one of their division rivals and a contender in the West next season just got better. Wood averages 18.1 points on 60% shooting against Memphis for his career.
As Chris Herrington pointed out in his column earlier this week, there may not be an obvious trade for the Grizzlies to make this summer. But the odds are best that they will do something.
