Welcome back to your Grizzlies Insider, where we deliver the latest NBA news and analysis straight to your inbox twice a week.

There was a time when Scotty Pippen Jr. needed assistance just to walk to the bathroom.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ two-way point guard had his injury first described as low back soreness when he exited the rotation a little more than a month ago. That soreness was quickly specified to reveal that he had a bulging disc in his back, a very painful injury to manage.

It could have completely sidetracked an otherwise opportunistic experience for the young guard, who was set for serious NBA minutes for the first time in his career.

Instead, Pippen worked his way back as fast as possible and jumped right back into the swing of things as if he never missed a beat.
