Welcome back to On the Ballot, The Daily Memphian’s election newsletter, for the last time in this election cycle. The Mid-South’s votes have been cast and counted, and the biggest story locally was probably the passage of three City of Memphis gun control questions. There are also new mayors in Collierville and in Millington, but it wasn’t a night with many surprises. Incumbents mostly retained their seats. Republican Mark White defeated challenger Noah Nordstrom in Tennessee House District 83 while John Gillespie did the same with Jesse Huseth in District 97. You can find all those stories and more, even early exit polling from local community members, at The Daily Memphian’s election day blog. You can also find tabulated results with vote totals and percentages here. And since the general election is coming to a close, we have to ask one more time. If you valued The Daily Memphian’s election coverage, please consider making a donation to help us continue this important work. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit newsroom, we need help from readers like you to make local journalism accessible to those who can afford a subscription — and to those who can’t.
