Those who watched the final seconds of Memphis’ 84-79 overtime road loss to Wichita State on Sunday were baffled by the Tigers’ late-game execution.

Even after giving away an 8-point lead with a little more than 12 minutes to go, the now-No. 22 Tigers (21-5, 11-2 AAC) found themselves with a chance to avoid the upset and end the game in regulation.

Memphis had possession with the game tied at 71 and 16.1 seconds left in the second half. But Colby Rogers missed an off-balance, contested 3-pointer from the right corner at the buzzer before the Tigers eventually fell in overtime.

During his weekly Penny Hardaway Radio Show on Monday night at Brookhaven Pub & Grill, coach Penny Hardaway took full responsibility for how that final sequence played out.
