Welcome to this week’s Tigers Basketball Insider. Below you’ll find the latest news and analysis from The Daily Memphian’s Parth Upadhyaya, John Martin and Tim Buckley.
Remember when Memphis had so much success the first two months of the season that national pundits were saying it had a real chance to make a March Madness run?
By the time the calendar flipped to 2025, coach Penny Hardaway’s Tigers (22-5, 12-2 AAC) — ranked No. 18 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll — had collected enough impressive wins in November and December to have them in line to earn a No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Cases in point: victories over the likes of Top 25 foes No. 8 Michigan State, No. 13 Clemson, No. 14 Missouri, Ole Miss and UConn. All are in the top 37 of the NCAA’s NET rankings as of Tuesday.
