When Memphis star PJ Haggerty entered the NCAA transfer portal last Thursday, it was evident to most that he had made a business decision.
Haggerty, a 6-foot-3 combo guard, averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game and shot 36.4% from 3-point range. The Crosby, Texas, native was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a consensus second team All-American while finishing the season third nationally in points per game.
The 29-6 Tigers won AAC regular-season and AAC Tournament titles and earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. It was their first regular-season championship since 2012-13 and their best March Madness seed since being a No. 2 in 2008-09.
