Fourth of July falls on a Friday this year, which means many of us are getting a three-day weekend. And if you want you can watch fireworks for three straight days.
The celebration starts early with the City of Memphis’ annual Liberty for All fireworks show at Liberty Park on Thursday, July 3. Collierville’s annual show held at H.W. Cox Park is also Thursday. Fireworks are finally returning to Downtown this Friday, July 4, as the Downtown Memphis Commission puts on a show spanning three parks. Germantown’s annual show is also Friday, July 4.
And Lakeland is launching its first-ever fireworks show this year Saturday, July 5. See details on these and more Fourth of July fun in our guide. — Bianca Phillips

“Horizon Lines” features three Memphis painters’ landscapes inspired by the Arkansas Delta area alongside U.S. 61. Anthony Lee’s works combine his U.S. Virgin Islands upbringing in the Caribbean with his views of Arkansas and the Mississippi River.
Matthew Lee’s works are plein-air oil paintings. They are representative landscapes, showcasing light, atmosphere and time passage. (The Lees are not related.)
Sowgand Sheikholeslami’s works incorporate quick watercolor, gouache, graphite and oil sketches. “Horizon Lines” will be on view through Sunday, Sept. 21. Hours vary daily. Free admission. 4339 Park Ave. — Elle Perry
‘This is Spinal Tap’ at various Malco theaters, Monday:
If their guitar amp goes to 11 why can’t they celebrate a 41st anniversary? One of the great movie comedies and a genre-launching mockumentary, “This is Spinal Tap” punctured all pretensions inherent in the notion of a “rock god.”
Directed by Rob Reiner and starring Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer as the British band that can’t keep a drummer, this circa-1984 behind-the-scenes look at classic rock/metal culture is deliriously funny fiction that feels as fundamentally true as anything it skewered. 7 p.m. at four local theaters: Collierville Cinema Grill, Cordova Cinema Grill, Desoto Cinema Grill and Hollywood 20. Radio station WYXR’s Stereo Sessions is a listening and discussion series dedicated to obscure gems from Memphis music history. This installment features “Love Anonymous,” a 1977 album by the soul/R&B vocal group The Masqueraders who recorded the album for Isaac Hayes’ Hot Buttered Soul label.
WYXR says the album “blends lush orchestrations, doo-wop harmonies and social consciousness.” Still together, the trio appeared on “America’s Got Talent” in 2017 and will be part of the event alongside album producer Lester Snell. 6 p.m. See here for more info and an RSVP link. — Herrington
