Welcome back to The To-Do List, where Daily Memphian staffers suggest their favorite events and activities for the coming week.
In this week’s To-Do List, the ’80s are back at Bar Keough, the women of Memphis jazz are at Crosstown Arts and Blue Suede Vintage has retro finds for all sizes.
‘Click to Add Title: An Improvised Powerpoint Comedy Show’ at Lamplighter Lounge, Thursday:

It’s hard enough to stand in front of coworkers and deliver a powerpoint presentation that you created. But imagine standing in front of a crowd of strangers to deliver a powerpoint you’ve never seen — and it has to be funny. That’s the premise of this improv comedy show, hosted by Benny Elbows and featuring Tootie Twotimes, Mike McCarthy, Polly Popjoy, Jade Smith and Just Larry. 7-8:30 p.m. $12.51. 1702 Madison Ave. More info here. — Bianca Phillips
’80s Nite at Bar Keough, Friday:
Let’s dance! DJ Livin and DJ Rhinstonee are spinning a flashback to “Flashdance” at Bar Keough. And let me tell y’all, their decks are always hot! But it’s not just your average DJ night. You better show up dressed the part. I’m talking neon colors, spandex leggings, big shoulder pads and bigger hair. The people will be electric sliding on the dance floor, and the music will be synthesized. And don’t leave the house until you’re choking on hairspray! 8 p.m. No cover. 247 Cooper St. Click here for more information. — Kelsey Bowen
Grit Group Fitness One-year Party at Grit Group Fitness, Saturday:
Grit Group Fitness’ Melissa Bamford opened her gym one year ago. The anniversary party is on Saturday, April 4. (Patrick Lantrip/The Daily Memphian file)
One year ago, sociology professor and fitness instructor Melissa Bamford opened Grit Group Fitness, a small boutique gym offering Les Mills classes. I’ve since taken a bunch of those classes, and let me tell you, I’m never not sore (in a good way) the next day. The gym will celebrate its first anniversary with a day of free BodyPump, BodyAttack and yoga classes. Starts at 9 p.m. Free, but class signup is required. 3129 Poplar Ave. More info and signup link here. — Phillips
Size-inclusive Market at Blue Suede Vintage, Saturday:
Casey O’Rourke’s Blue Suede Vintage will host a size-inclusive market on Saturday, April 4. (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian file)
If you’re not a size medium, chances are you’ve struggled to find vintage clothes that fit. I’m an extra-small girlie, and it’s hard out here. And I’ve heard it’s no easier for plus-sized women. But not-so-average ladies, this weekend’s size-inclusive market is for us. Vendors will be showcasing their XXS and XS clothes and plus-sized pieces. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. 486 N. Hollywood Ave. More info here. — Phillips
Riverfront Easter Festival at Mud Island River Park, Saturday:
There’s an Easter egg hunt and fest at Mud Island River Park on Saturday, April 4. (Ziggy Mack/The Daily Memphian file)
Whether or not you celebrate Easter in a religious sense, there’s no denying egg hunts are a blast for the kids. And there will be lots of hunting at this fest at the underutilized Mud Island River Park. There are six different hunts (with more than 20,000 eggs!), divided by age group and including one hunt for kids with special needs. There will also be live music, food trucks and an interactive kids’ zone with inflatables, games, face painting and more. 11 a.m. Free. 125 N. Front St. More info here. — Phillips
Loflin Yard 10-year anniversary block party, Saturday:
Lofliin Yard celebrates 10 years with a party on Friday, April 3. (Jim Weber/The Daily Memphian file)
Loflin Yard is marking its 10th anniversary with a ten-hour party. Live musicians will perform throughout the day, and vendors, including a pet adoption booth, will be present. The festival will benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Streetdog Foundation. 12-11 p.m. Free until 6 p.m. 7 W. Carolina Ave. More info here. — Chamberlain
Midtown Shop & Support fundraiser for WKNO at First Congo Church, Saturday:
President Donald Trump’s federal funding cuts left WKNO with a 21% shortfall in this year’s operating budget. And though a March 31st U.S. Supreme Court ruling found Trump’s funding order violated public broadcasters' First Amendment rights, the decision does not immediately restore funding. But you can help. On Saturday, the newly formed Midtown Shop & Support will hold its first fundraiser to benefit WKNO. The event will feature a thrift market of gently used clothing, records, jewelry, books, toys and more. There will also be live music and food trucks. 2-6 p.m. Free. 1000 S. Cooper St. More info here. — Phillips

Crosstown Arts kicks off its annual Jazz Month this weekend with a concert featuring three, Memphis-based, female jazz vocalists. Deborah Swiney, a background vocalist for Al Green and active soloist, organizes the Sunset Jazz at Court Square series. Patrice Williamson, who taught at Berklee College of Music in Boston, is also a classical flutist. Joyce Cobb is a long-time Memphis jazz, blues and R&B fixture. The band for the show consists of Sylvester Sample on bass, Henry Conerway II on drums, Alvie Givhan on piano and Ted Ludwig on guitar. 7:30-9:30 p.m. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. 1350 Concourse Ave., Suite 280. — Elle Perry
Pierogi Impreza at Fawn featuring Chef Magda Dutkiewicz Vaughan, Wednesday:
Magda Vaughan of Halinka's Polish Eatery will teach a pierogi class at Fawn on Wednesday, April 8. (Brad Vest/The Daily Memphian file)
Chef and owner of the Halinka’s Polish Eatery food truck, Magda Dutkiewicz Vaughan, will lead a hands-on pierogi-making class at Fawn. Students will learn about the Eastern-European dumpling’s contributions to Polish culture and tradition as they assemble handmade dough and filling to make blueberry pierogi. Fawn’s full bar will be available before, during and after the class. Pre-registration is required. 6:30-9:30 p.m. $75. 937 S. Cooper St. More info here. — Ellen Chamberlain
