As the NBA playoffs go full speed ahead, the Memphis Grizzlies are back in the news without a single dribble.

Thanks, commish. 

Before we get to what is to come for Memphis over the next few months, let’s revisit an old conversation that feels notable in light of recent commentary.

Grizzlies as Tennessee’s team?

According to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Memphis Grizzlies owner Robert Pera has “no interest” in moving the franchise out of town. 

Silver said so on Barstool Sports’ podcast Pardon My Take on Wednesday. 

You may think the news would be met with universal celebration in Memphis, where the franchise just celebrated its 25th anniversary season. 

Pera wants to keep the Grizzlies in town? Woo Hoo!

Except that’s not how it went. For some, the reaction was a grumble.
