The fight for America’s free enterprise system is alive and well.

Several owners and managers of Memphis properties have sued large, powerful government agencies claiming their decision to halt evictions during the pandemic denies their constitutional right to use their properties as they wish. You might recall several limited-service restaurants in Memphis also sued the Shelby County Health Department in July for closing down their businesses.

FedEx is flying high again on the wings of the COVID-induced e-commerce rush; Domino’s Pizza makes a huge commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Raymond James is laying off 4% of its workforce, including Memphis jobs; and my childhood stomping grounds, St. Michael Catholic Church, is expanding its campus while other churches are shrinking.
