The Week in Review

For a football team, a weekend without a game is a luxury, a time to heal and prep, even if it’s only the second week of the season.

For the Memphis Tigers, it was a time of anxiety (people in the program testing positive for the coronavirus) … innuendo (something about a “party bus”) … unpleasantness (coach Ryan Silverfield’s Monday fury) … and disappointment (the postponement of Friday’s Houston-Memphis game).

But there was some good news — for former Tigers players, at least. The NFL is back, and Antonio Gibson, a rookie with the Washington Football Team, debuted with nine carries for 36 yards and two receptions for 8 yards. Anthony Miller, in his third season with the Chicago Bears, had four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown.
