The Spirit of Memphis is alive and well. While Al Green and a fitness coach encourage Memphians to get vaccinated, medical teams are reaching out to make sure we all, even the homebound, have access to the coronavirus vaccine. Memphis churches get into the act, rounding up food for those in need, and savoring the chance to celebrate Easter together this year. Sports figures continue to exhibit the Spirit of Memphis, from the Tigers’ hard-won tournament trophy to the new 901 FC coach who yearns to deliver a win for the city he loves. Then there’s the Whitehaven High player who makes it his mission to entertain when he hits the baseball diamond, and the White Station High effort to honor a longtime volunteer.
