Shelby County reports 212 new cases following nearly 4,500 tests

Shelby County Health Department reported 212 new cases of coronavirus in Shelby County Sunday, for a total of 34,221 since early March.
The new cases come from a reported 4,495 tests for a low daily positivity rate of 4.7%.
Three new deaths were reported and the number of people who have died with COVID-19 totals 551. The Health Department estimates 31,885 people have recovered and 1,785 people currently have the virus.
The most recent hospital data reported is as of Thursday evening at 5 p.m. At that time, intensive care units were at 92% capacity. Only 34 beds were available in the metro-area. Of 380 individuals in Memphis-area ICU beds, 17% were being treated for COVID-19.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 2,605 new cases Sunday for a total of 228,744 cases since early March, when the first case in the state was confirmed. The state also reported six new deaths, and 2,909 Tennesseans have died with COVID-19.
