Memphis Theological Seminary will move classes online this fall
Given current conditions regarding the spread and dangers of COVID-19, Memphis Theological Seminary announced Tuesday, July 14, it will offer all fall semester 2020 classes online, both in real time and asynchronously.
Faculty members have adapted classes to the online format, according to a release, and the addition of hybrid-online courses in recent years made it possible to adapt quickly to the changing educational and technological landscape.
MTS received CARES Act funding, which was distributed directly to students in the form of small grants to help offset the costs of increased technological use at home.
In preparation, the library staff has made more online resources available to students for research and writing. The seminary will also regularly offer opportunities for prayer and worship as a community online.
“The decision to have all of our courses online this fall reflects our commitment to the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff,” said Dr. Peter R. Gathje, vice president and dean of academic affairs. “We are more than ready to offer an excellent educational experience using a variety of online tools for teaching and learning.”
