The team behind Bain Barbecue in Cooper-Young is buying Bob’s Barksdale Restaurant and plans to reopen the beloved Midtown diner much the way it was, although with necessary upgrades.

Ryan Glosson and the husband-and-wife team of Bryant and Heather Bain will operate the restaurant at 237 S. Cooper St. after the sale closes Oct. 11, Glosson said. The eatery has been shuttered since a kitchen fire in early June.

Bob’s Barksdale to be sold — but expected to reopen

Work is expected to begin after the sale closes, and Glosson said the restaurant could reopen in February 2025 with the same operating hours as before: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., seven days a week.

“The idea is to be able to bring Barksdale’s back,” Glosson said. “It’s a Memphis institution. I remember going with my parents growing up.”

There will be some changes, though.
