Grizzlies Insider: Team ready for ‘Errrbody’

By

Welcome back to our Grizzlies Insider newsletter as we get down to the wire before the restart of the team’s season. Below, you’ll find the latest Memphis Grizzlies news from Daily Memphian staffers Drew Hill, Chris Herrington and Geoff Calkins each week.

After several weeks in Orlando and a few “welcome back” scrimmages, we now know that Kyle Anderson can hit a 3, Ja Morant does not like being asked if he’s locked in, and that you’re wasting your time trying to sneak into the NBA bubble. You can only get NBA bubble-adjacent.

But we’re also very interested in what happens when the real games start.

Jonas Valanciunas says the team is ready, are you?

In case you missed it, the Grizzlies dropped their pre-restart hype video Wednesday morning on social media, narrated by Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo.

The video harps on the city’s undeniable underdog mentality, and immediately preceded the team’s announcement that, beginning today, fans can pick up a ‘Memphis vs. Errrbody’ growl towel at the Grizz Den inside FedExForum, while supplies last.

“(Being the underdog) is something that we’re just used to now,” Brandon Clarke said last week. “Being that we’re the Grizzlies, and we’re from Memphis, people just always kind of look down on us. We’ve always done things better than people expect us to, so that’s just kind of a vibe and a swag that we have naturally now. ... I like being the underdog, personally, and I think my teammates like it, too.”
