Ja Morant’s realization is also one for the Memphis Grizzlies.
“I feel like in the past (my inner circle and I) didn’t know what was at stake,” Morant said in an interview with ESPN. “Now, me having that time to realize everything and have that time alone, I realize it now. I realize what I have to lose.”
Morant will finish out an eight-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the league, then he we will be back on the court shortly thereafter.
With the point guard available to play again this season, the Grizzlies will have a chance to make a serious run in the NBA playoffs. Without him, it would have been an uphill fight.
That is one of the conclusions from the recent saga, but second in importance behind Morant addressing his personal struggles and reaching for a better life of better decisions. As columnist Chris Herrington wrote on Wednesday night, let’s hope he’s ready.
Morant will be inserted into a close race for second place in the Western Conference. For now, Sacramento holds the tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed.
