When Peter Nearn enrolls at Clemson he won’t have the expectations of his more celebrated teammate, Dietrick Pennington. But he’ll still be playing for one of the nation’s best programs.

Nearn, from ECS, will be preferred walk-on for the Tigers, who have won two national titles since 2016. Unlike Pennington, so was highly recruited by many powers, Nearn was mostly courted by lower-division schools. But a trip to Clemson’s summer camp prior to his junior year made a lasting impression and when the opportunity came, he grabbed it.

Nearn’s future is set. But Warren Nolen still has a long way to go before selecting his college of choice.

Nolen, who won’t turn 14 until July, already has offers from Georgia, Michigan and Tennessee. And he owes a lot of his success to playing on a youth team coached by Deqwan Bevill, who in is own way is every bit as precocious as Nolen.

As always, coaches, stat-keepers and parents are encouraged to send in their scores, highlights and top performers. Email jvarlas@dailymemphian.com or Tweet @johnvarlas. — John Varlas
