Coronavirus: 103 new cases, no additional deaths

The Shelby County Health Department reported 103 new coronavirus cases and no additional deaths this Easter Sunday.

The new cases come from 2,254 tests, yielding a 4.6% positivity rate.

Active cases in Shelby County stand at 1,188. 


Shelby County is 33% toward its vaccination goal


Sunday’s cases bring Shelby County to a total of 91,716 cases, with 88,954 labeled as inactive/recovered, and a total of 1,574 deaths.

There have been a total of 238,340 people vaccinated in Shelby County, with 113,760 partially vaccinated, and 124,580 fully vaccinated. 

Regional hospitalized COVID patients

As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the latest data available from Tennessee’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System, there were 145 COVID-19 patients in Memphis-area hospitals. 

Hospital bed capacity is at 91% in ICU, and 90% in acute care, with patients occupying 44 ICU beds and 101 in acute care. 

Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.
