Coronavirus: Nearly 120 new cases reported

The Shelby County Health Department reported nearly 120 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, April 27, and no new deaths.
The 118 cases come from 948 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 12.4%.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 94,974 cases, including 91,696 inactive cases, 1,665 active cases and 1,613 deaths.
The latest hospital capacity figures are current as of 5 p.m. April 25.
At that time, there were 157 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System.
According to the HRTS, 94% of area ICU and 93% of area acute care beds were in use.
About 20% of patients in area ICU beds were COVID-positive (64) or suspected of having the coronavirus (9). About 7% of patients in area acute care beds were either COVID-positive (93) or suspected of having the coronavirus (58).
And 22 area ICU and 174 area acute care beds were available.
Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.
The capacity figures are inclusive of all hospital facilities in Shelby, Tipton and Lauderdale counties in Tennessee as well as facilities in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and DeSoto County, Mississippi.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
As of Monday, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total was 843,059, including 12,152 deaths, 785 current hospitalizations and 817,770 are inactive cases.
About 7.6 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
